As an engineering leader, I inspire engineers and leaders to solve our clients’ problems with high-quality and scalable solutions that are valuable and usable to our clients and viable for the business. I have helped companies scale from less than $1 million to $20+ million ARR by being a “roll your sleeves up” cross-functional leader, owning maximum ambiguity, and empowering teams to reach unreachable outcomes. The consummate “swiss-army knife” problem solver, I have contributed as the owner of technology strategy, team builder, and architect while working across the entire stack as a DevOps, Infrastructure, Reliability, and Front/Back-End Engineer. I have continuously maintained a below-market attrition rate (5%) through hyper-growth, reductions, and hiring crazes because I lead with people’s permission, help them deliver great products, come to work with a “will sweep floors mentality,” and am passionate about coaching tomorrow’s tech leaders. On The Technical Side I have 15 years in engineering, 10 as a technical leader, and 5 as a people leader. At Exactera, I utilized all of my skills to empower one platform and company. I architected the entire Platform in AWS that powered multiple SaaS products. Every single resource in our system was deployed via IaaS (Terraform) into a develop, staging, and then production environment (Serverless, VPC Networking, Databases, Queues). I built the CICD logic enabling the deployments and DORA metrics tracking. I set up our logging system, which powered Observability and system metrics. It enabled request level and low-level attachment of important variables to every log message, improving debugging 10x. I set up and deployed multiple databases (SQL, NoSQL) in AWS. I built front-end UI components and complex backend engines that thrusted the company from $1 million to $20 million ARR. At Lifion, I moved from Java to Javascript as I became a leader of technology. I saw opportunities to build open-source tooling that would enable powerful observability. I built the Errr node module, which attaches individual stack traces and debug params at each pass of the event loop. I also built a powerful and open-source, BDD testing framework. Prior to Lifion, I worked in finance and helped build 2 different trading applications. Simply put, I have a proven track record of delivering impactful results with maximum ambiguity within every function and at every level of the stack.
