I've been designing and coding machine learning + data analysis workflows for more than 8 years. I've led work using machine learning methods to identify drug mentions in various contexts, estimate the severity of drug side effects, and monitor the opioid epidemic via social media. Additionally, I co-led the largest PGx allele frequency study to-date, in the process coding an open-source PGx allele caller from scratch that's capable of processing >100,000s of samples in a few hours on a single core. Over the course of 3 months during the COVID-19 pandemic, I built an image analysis software system for identifying high-priority Covid case reports to aid a local county's response to the pandemic. It's currently in active use and has been a part of their core workflow since December 2020.
