Robotics Data Infrastructure Engineer
About this role
This role sits at the intersection of robotics and data infrastructure, responsible for building reliable pipelines and storage that make large volumes of robot telemetry and training data usable for engineering and ML teams. You’ll work with cross-functional robotics, software, and data science teams to ensure data is collected, processed, and served with production-grade reliability so Verne Robotics can iterate faster and deliver safer systems.
What you'll do
- Design and build scalable data pipelines to ingest and process robot telemetry and sensor data.
- Implement storage solutions and schemas that support analytics, model training, and replay.
- Ensure data quality, validation, and lineage across ingestion and transformation stages.
- Optimize latency and throughput for real-time and batch processing use cases.
- Instrument observability, monitoring, and alerting for data flows and infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with robotics engineers and data scientists to translate platform needs into implementation.
- Productionize ETL/ELT workflows with CI/CD and automated testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents affecting data availability or correctness.
What Verne Robotics is looking for
- Several years of experience building data infrastructure, platform services, or large-scale ETL pipelines (3+ years preferred).
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, databases, and data pipeline design.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms and distributed compute/orchestration (e.g., cloud VMs, containers, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with real-time telemetry, streaming data, and requirements unique to robotics or embedded systems.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with at least one systems language or tooling commonly used for infrastructure (e.g., Go, C++, Rust).
- Experience with observability, logging, metrics, and production CI/CD for data systems.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working across engineering and ML teams.
