AI Researcher (Large Language Models)

Join Tavus's core AI team to advance large language modeling for conversational AI and build empathetic, controllable AI Humans. You'll bridge cutting-edge research and production, shaping how machines see, hear, and respond to create a new interface between humans and machines.

What you'll do

• Research large language modeling and adaptation techniques for Conversational Avatars, Neural Avatars, and Talking-Heads
• Develop methods to model verbal and non-verbal aspects of conversation and control avatar behavior in real time
• Experiment with fine-tuning, adaptation, and conditioning to make LLMs more expressive, controllable, and task-specific
• Partner with the Applied ML team to take research prototypes into production systems
• Stay current with emerging advancements in LLMs and generative AI to define what comes next

What Tavus is looking for

• Hands-on experience with LLMs or VLMs and a strong foundation in generative language models
• Track record of fine-tuning, conditioning, or adapting LLMs for control and downstream tasks
• Solid background in deep learning and familiarity with foundation model methods
• Strong PyTorch skills and comfort building deep learning pipelines
• Strong research background in machine learning, NLP, or a relevant technical field
• Flexible, experimental mindset with comfort working across research and engineering in a fast-moving startup environment
