Kubernetes Engineer
About this role
Porter.run is looking for a passionate Kubernetes Engineer to join its flat, high-ownership team and build production-grade infrastructure software that simplifies cloud complexity. In this role, you will develop solutions that programmatically interact with Kubernetes, enabling top engineering teams to instantly create and manage production-grade infrastructure across any cloud provider. Your work will be central to empowering the next generation of builders by abstracting away infrastructure friction.
What you'll do
- Write production-grade software that programmatically interacts with Kubernetes.
- Manage end-to-end Kubernetes cluster upgrades.
- Debug issues at the node level by shelling into virtual machines and analyzing log files.
- Read open-source repositories to identify and resolve third-party dependency issues.
- Collaborate with the team on all aspects touching users' clusters and provide meaningful feedback.
- Drive your own work in two-week project cycles with full autonomy.
- Engage directly with customers via Slack to bring product intuition to infrastructure decisions.
What Porter.run is looking for
- 5+ years of experience working with Kubernetes and writing production-grade software.
- Proven experience managing Kubernetes cluster upgrades.
- Comfort debugging at the node level, including accessing VMs and digging through log files.
- Comfort reading open-source repositories to debug third-party dependencies.
- Genuine enthusiasm for Kubernetes and developer tooling.
- Strong collaboration skills and willingness to provide feedback on anything touching users' clusters.
- An end-to-end ownership mindset, with experience owning the full development lifecycle of code in production.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York and work fully in person five days a week.
- Nice-to-Have: Experience with Go, GitOps, open-source contributions in the Kubernetes ecosystem, or having built a Kubernetes controller.
