Founding Engineer (potential CTO)
About this role
Salary: 170K + Equity Offered ($500K up to $2 million)
Meo Health is hiring a Founding Engineer (potential CTO) to be the second technical voice and turn our product vision into a production-quality AI mobile experience; this role is early-stage, in-person in Montreal, SF, or NYC, and central to how we build for the next decade. You’ll ship the first Meo AI end-to-end experience, design the model and feedback loop for a nervous system training coach, and define the engineering culture and stack.
What you'll do
- Serve as the Founding Engineer and potential CTO, owning technical direction and execution.
- Ship Meo AI v1 end-to-end, from React Native app to Claude-backed inference and wearable integrations.
- Architect and build the nervous system training AI coach, including model design, prompt engineering, and evaluation.
- Translate biosignals (HRV, breath, motion, PPG) into a real-time coaching layer that meets users where they are.
- Build and maintain AI-powered QA and testing pipelines to enable safe daily shipping.
- Own the full stack decisions across frontend, backend, infra, and AI-native layers.
- Integrate iOS/HealthKit and wearable platforms (Apple Watch, Oura, Whoop, EEG headbands).
- Work on-site in Montreal, San Francisco, or New York to collaborate closely with the founding team.
What Meo Health is looking for
- Proven experience shipping a 0→1 consumer mobile app that served real users.
- Deep fluency in React Native and ownership of the full mobile lifecycle (build, release, debug, monitor).
- Production experience building with Claude or other frontier models, including prompts, tool use, and evals.
- Comfortable moving across frontend, backend, infra, and AI infrastructure without hesitation.
- Experience with or strong ability to learn HealthKit, wearable APIs, and handling noisy biosignal data.
- Founder mindset with prior first-engineer or early-stage startup experience and the ability to make hard tradeoffs.
- Ability to be in-person in Montreal, SF, or NYC.
- Background or strong interest in nervous system science, somatics, neuroscience, or trauma research.
