Product Engineer

This role is for a founding Product Engineer on a small, high-impact team building Diligent's core AI platform for financial risk and compliance. You’ll combine hands-on engineering, product thinking, and direct customer engagement to translate LLM capabilities into reliable, production-ready features that drive customer outcomes.

What youll do

• Shape product direction and technical strategy as an early member of the team.
• Develop and scale the core platform and new zero-to-one initiatives.
• Translate novel LLM capabilities into understandable, performant end-user experiences.
• Release production code under a “You Build It, You Run It” ownership model.
• Work directly with enterprise customers, including financial crime and risk teams, to solve critical problems.
• Build integrations, data infrastructure, and tooling to enable Diligent AI agents to automate workflows.
• Evolve schemas and structure non-deterministic LLM outputs for reliable downstream use.
• Lead customer calls and take responsibility for customer outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO, CTO, and founding team to mature engineering practices.
• Tackle scaling challenges and navigate ambiguity while hiring and onboarding future teammates.

What Diligent is looking for

• Strong track record building production software, ideally at early-stage startups or founding teams.
• Hands-on experience with the tech stack: Node.js/TypeScript, Python, React, and AWS Serverless.
• Practical experience applying LLMs or large-scale NLP models to product problems and structuring non-deterministic outputs.
• Comfortable working directly with enterprise customers in financial risk, compliance, or related domains.
• Demonstrated ownership mindset — shipping, operating, and iterating on features end-to-end.
• Able to navigate ambiguity, ask high-leverage questions, and contribute beyond implementation.
• Highly curious, driven, and humble team player who can hire and mentor others.
• Base salary £75k–£110k and equity 0.25–0.5%.
