Job Description

Responsible for driving strong financial performance at the hotel through effective accounting controls and the application of established legal policies and procedures. In addition, leads the team and serves as a strategic advisor to the General Manager and Executive Committee in making critical financial decisions for the property.

  • Leads the hotel's daily financial planning and overall budgeting process in collaboration with the General Manager and Executive Committee.
  • Oversees all finance functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and revenue auditing.
  • Maximizes the hotel's cash flow performance.
  • Establishes, monitors, and enforces appropriate controls over all revenue, expenses, and asset protection.
  • Deals honestly and fairly with guests, suppliers, and financial partners.
  • Maintains accurate and timely financial information, providing analysis, interpretation, and forecasts.
  • Assumes responsibility for the professional development of the department, including identifying training needs and supporting funding for required training.
  • Ensures the secure storage and appropriate access to all contracts, leases, and other financial records.
  • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance in all accounting and financial reporting functions.
  • Guides financial decision-making by monitoring and enforcing relevant policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in monthly and annual reviews with the owner/asset manager, including budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial reports and commentary.
  • Acts as the financial liaison with the ownership group, providing any required information, documentation, and analysis in a timely manner.
  • Works with the Executive Committee to achieve budgeted objectives.
  • Presents financial business and annual reports.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, building personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of financial information and plans.
  • Ensures strict compliance with financial and operational internal control systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience as a Director of Finance within the hospitality industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with hotel financial reporting systems and software, as well as management agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing contracts and operating agreements, including the evaluation of risk/reward scenarios and return-on-investment opportunities.
  • Experience in developing proactive strategies and plans to mitigate business risks.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of complex information and present it clearly and concisely to senior management and ownership groups.
  • Thorough understanding of local and national laws and regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in the English language.
