Description

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

The Luther Luckett Correctional Complex (LLCC) is seeking applicants for a Mechanical Maintenance & Operations Supervisor to perform maintenance duties on the grounds of the institution. This person determines work assignments to the inmate workers assisting in maintenance responsibilities as well as overseeing and performing other maintenance duties.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provides supervision, administration, and inspections of LLCC inmate employees.
• Oversees general maintenance practices of work performed by inmates at LLCC.
• Supervises and determines work schedules on various maintenance jobs throughout the facility and grounds.
• Prioritizes and verifies completions of work orders.
• Requisitions maintenance tools and supplies as needed.
• Supervises and assists offenders in daily maintenance and repair tasks while maintaining a safe and secure working environment.
• Tracks assignment of tools and parts.

Minimum Requirements

Working Conditions

May be required to take care of emergency repairs twenty-four hours a day.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
