If you are a self-motivated individual with strong quality skills who enjoys continuous improvement and working with people, then you should be successful at Oakworks. The Quality Specialist inspects received goods, returned goods, work in process, and finished products while continuously assessing the environment and processes to suggest opportunities. After identification of concerns, the Quality Specialist documents as appropriate, assists in the coordination and disposition of nonconforming material, and trains employees on quality procedures and defect recognition, including welding inspection. It is also critical to manage and execute changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This could require performing other activities as needed, from providing training and guidance to fellow employees to operating a pallet jack.
Essential Functions:
Performs inspection of received goods, in-process WIP, and finished products as required.
Ensures accuracy and completeness of quality records.
Identifies nonconforming product and material, assists in the coordination and disposition of nonconforming material.
Facilitation of the calibration system.
Makes required inventory and quality transactions as determined.
Prepares management reports of daily issues and activities.
Assists in training of employees on quality procedures and defect recognition.
Assists with tracking and records of quality performance of production department and suppliers.
Assists with other quality functions as needed.
QualificationsQualifications:
Education: Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Prefer 5 years work experience in quality control in a medical device manufacturing environment. Must be able to demonstrate mechanical ability (Read Drawings with engineering tolerances, hands on use of various inspection equipment e.g. caliper, multimeter, height gauge, electrical test equipment).
Physical Requirement and Work Environment:
Ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time on a daily basis
Ability to lift/reach/bend/stretch in normal office environment
Ability to use computer for extended periods of time on a daily basis
Periodically use phone, copier, and fax
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
Ability to identify and distinguish colors
Ability to operate hand tools weighing up to 10 lbs. on a repetitive basis throughout the shift.
Mobility to effectively move and converse in all areas throughout the facility
Ability to tolerate exposure to wood dust/products, lacquer, metal dust/products and metal processing products in a normal manufacturing environment
Work in hot and cold environment with seasonally changing temperatures
