About the role
Fresco AI is building the next-gen AI assistant for the $12T construction industry. Backed by Y Combinator, SignalFire, and Bessemer Venture Partners, we work with top national and Bay Area general contractors to help field teams instantly find and act on info buried in project documents and drawings. We’re looking for an Engineering Intern to join us in San Francisco. You’ll ship real features, touch production on day one, and solve domain-specific problems that don’t have off-the-shelf answers.
What You’ll Do
Ship end-to-end features across web and mobile (Next.js/React/TypeScript + Expo).
Improve retrieval quality in our AI stack (embeddings, pgvector, hybrid semantic + lexical search, OCR/vision on plans).
Talk to users (supers, PMs) and close the loop the same day—measure, fix, ship.
Help shape data models and APIs that keep everything fast and reliable.
Pair with the CTO on product bets and longer-term technical direction.
Our Stack
Frontend: React + TypeScript
Backend: Next.js + TypeScript
Some Python for deep computation
Mobile: Expo (React Native)
Data/Infra: Postgres + pgvector (Neon), Prisma, Vercel, S3, AWS Textract
AI: OpenAI (GPT-4.x/vision/embeddings), RAG over docs/drawings
Process: PRs for visibility, lightweight review, high ownership. We believe great data models make the rest of the code flow.
You Might Be a Fit
You’ve built and shipped something meaningful (apps, tools, research—show us).
Comfortable with React/TypeScript, Node, SQL—or eager to ramp fast.
Curious about construction and how software lands in the field.
Low-ego, high-ownership, biased to ship and iterate in tight loops.
Able to join us in person in SF for a full-time internship (10–12+ weeks preferred).
