Software Engineer, Infrastructure
About this role
This role builds and maintains the infrastructure that connects AI, experiments, and robots to accelerate materials discovery — work that directly affects real-world scientific outcomes. You'll join a team where software is the coordination layer between scientific intent and physical execution, and where reliability, observability, and usability are product priorities.
What you'll do
- Build backend services in Python (FastAPI, Pydantic) to orchestrate real scientific workflows.
- Develop data pipelines that convert raw experimental output into usable signals.
- Create internal dashboards and interfaces (React, TypeScript, Tailwind, Streamlit) used by scientists and engineers.
- Maintain containerized environments and CI/CD pipelines to keep systems moving.
- Improve observability so teams understand what’s happening before users complain.
- Drive reliability improvements based on real failure modes and production experience.
- Support job orchestration and ML systems, including integration with SLURM-based simulation clusters.
- Treat infrastructure as a first-class product that directly affects productivity and discovery.
What Dunia Innovations is looking for
- 2–5 years of software engineering experience with solid Python fundamentals.
- Comfort working across the stack and willingness to dig into unfamiliar territory.
- Experience with containerized applications and basic DevOps practices (CI/CD, containers).
- Clear communication skills and a habit of writing clean, maintainable code.
- Bonus: exposure to scientific computing, ML infrastructure, or data-intensive systems.
- English fluency, with additional languages preferred.
