Founding Engineer (FT)

Munich · On-site$70k – $95k + Equity

About this role

Celsio is hiring a Founding Engineer to join the CTO as the first technical hire responsible for building and operating live systems that steer assets and trade on short-term electricity markets. This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, market integrations, and machine learning — and is central to delivering reliable 24/7 operations for customers in the industrial electrification space.

What youll do

  • Operate and maintain a reliable cloud infrastructure that enables 24/7 asset steering and high-frequency trading.
  • Develop and improve interfaces to electricity markets and the steering box.
  • Expand the backtesting environment to support customer configurations, new algorithms, and new asset types.
  • Train, test, deploy, and monitor electricity trading models in production.
  • Build a new asset type into the backtesting environment in your first quarter.
  • Design the cloud architecture for live operations in your first quarter.
  • Rapidly learn and internalize customer needs and the purpose behind Celsio's product.

What Celsio is looking for

  • Strong CS / math / or physics fundamentals from a top university background.
  • Proven experience shipping production code, with cloud infrastructure experience (ideally AWS) and Python.
  • Ability to own workstreams end-to-end, deliver high-quality results, and escalate issues early.
  • Purpose-driven mindset with an understanding of building for industrial electrification in Germany.
  • Fluent in English and based in Munich or willing to work on-site in Munich most of the time.
  • Nice-to-have: optimization and data-science experience (MILP, stochastic methods, RNNs, RL).
  • Nice-to-have: fluent German, time-series forecasting in production, and energy / climate-tech domain knowledge.

We know the perfect profile does not exist — the right mindset is valued over having every listed qualification.
