Senior Founding Engineer

Join Bluejay to build the simulation, evaluation, and observability layer that ensures conversational AI agents perform safely and reliably before they reach the real world. You will work directly with the founding team in San Francisco to architect full-stack systems processing millions of monthly calls for enterprise clients, establishing the engineering practices that define how a fast-growing team operates at scale.

What youll do

• Architect and develop systems that simulate, analyze, and evaluate conversational AI agents across voice and multimodal formats.
• Design resilient, scalable infrastructure on AWS using Lambda, EC2, WebSockets, and SIP to handle millions of real-time conversations.
• Reduce system bottlenecks across the stack, from database query optimization to frontend dashboard performance.
• Build algorithms and pipelines that surface insights, detect failure modes, and ensure AI agents remain aligned with human intent.
• Establish strong engineering practices across code review, architecture design, and system design.
• Partner on-site with customers to build, sell, and deploy the product in live environments.

What Bluejay is looking for

• 6+ years of full-stack engineering experience with real depth across both frontend and backend.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript, Python, SQL, and AWS; these skills are non-negotiable for this role.
• A proven track record of building and optimizing production systems at serious scale—millions of requests and large data volumes.
• Strong systems and architecture thinking with the ability to design for scale and clearly articulate trade-offs.
• Low ego and excellent communication skills; you thrive in collaborative, fast-moving teams.
• Evidence of taking something outside of work to an extreme level through hundreds of hours of deliberate practice.
