Alinea Invest is seeking a Founding AI Engineer to take full ownership of AI Allie, their in-app AI investing companion. This pivotal role involves building and evolving AI systems that merge large language models with financial data, directly impacting how hundreds of thousands of users learn about investing and make financial decisions. You will work closely with the founding team, driving the future of AI-powered financial guidance.
What you'll do
- Own and ship AI features end-to-end, from concept to production, across the full stack.
- Architect and develop the core AI systems powering AI Allie.
- Build and deploy LLM-powered product features for a large user base.
- Design retrieval systems to ground model responses in financial data and internal knowledge.
- Develop evaluation frameworks to ensure model quality, accuracy, and safety.
- Optimize model performance, latency, and cost efficiency in production environments.
- Build infrastructure for prompt orchestration, memory, and contextual personalization.
- Design and implement guardrails suitable for financial products and regulated environments.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to identify pain points and deliver rapid solutions.

- Proven experience building impressive solo/side projects or shipping production AI systems with real users.
- Strong fundamentals in backend engineering and LLM systems.
- A hungry, curious mindset, comfortable with minimal structure and a bias toward shipping.
- Ability to thrive in high-intensity environments and a desire for direct involvement in product decisions.
