Head of Backend
About this role
Akiflow is hiring a Head of Backend to lead and scale our backend services within a small, high-growth development team. This role is focused on consolidating a microservices architecture, improving security and reliability, and delivering APIs and integrations that enable product growth and a great user experience.
What you'll do
- Join a small development team and contribute to a high-growth startup environment.
- Expand, consolidate, and scale Akiflow’s microservices backend architecture.
- Improve overall backend performance, reliability, and security.
- Design and develop new REST APIs for internal and external use.
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party services.
- Create internal tools to streamline development and operations.
- Define and contribute to the software lifecycle and engineering processes.
- Proactively propose innovative features and backend solutions aligned with Akiflow’s goals.
- Occasionally interact with customers to triage and reproduce bugs.
What Akiflow is looking for
- 6+ years in backend development, with preference for candidates with 11+ years of experience.
- Strong experience with Go and Node.js, with PHP used as a minor language.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases and caching systems.
- Proficiency with Unix-based systems, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, or others).
- Proven experience building and consuming REST APIs and implementing OAuth2.
- Background in scaling infrastructures and distributed systems.
- Solid software development fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging tools, and version control systems (git).
- Demonstrated focus on security, collaboration, and a flexible, can-do attitude.
- Precision and care for UX/UI and strong spoken and written English.
- Location: Padua, Italy.
- Visa US citizenship/visa not required.
