Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and SHRM-certified (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) Human Resources Generalist to manage our core employment lifecycle operations. In this role, you will own everything from the moment a candidate passes the final interview to their day-to-day experience as an employee. You will be the engine behind our background checks, offer letters, onboarding, payroll processing, and workplace employee relations.
The ideal candidate bridges the gap between strict operational compliance and a people-first workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Acquisition Support & Compliance
· Background Screenings: Initiate, track, and review comprehensive background checks and reference checks for selected candidates, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
· Offer Management: Prepare, secure internal approvals for, and distribute formal offer letters and employment agreements.
2. Onboarding & Employee Experience
· Onboarding Ownership: Build and execute a seamless onboarding experience that welcomes new hires, coordinates tech/equipment setup, and integrates them into our culture.
· Documentation: Manage the collection and verification of all new-hire paperwork (I-9 verification, tax forms, direct deposit, etc.).
3. Payroll & Benefits Administration
· Payroll Processing: Own the end-to-end processing of bi-weekly/monthly payroll, ensuring absolute accuracy in time tracking, deductions, bonuses, and tax withholdings.
· Data Integrity: Maintain and update employee records within the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) with high data fidelity.
4. Employee Relations & Workplace Issues
· Conflict Resolution: Act as the trusted, neutral point of contact for employee grievances, workplace issues, and interpersonal conflicts.
· Investigations: Conduct objective, thoroughly documented internal investigations when necessary, ensuring fair outcomes aligned with company policy.
· Policy Guidance: Answer day-to-day employee questions regarding company handbooks, benefits, leaves of absence, and labor laws.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
· Certification: Active SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is strictly required.
· Experience: 3 to 5 years of dedicated HR experience, with a proven track record handling payroll and employee relations.
· Payroll Expertise: Hands-on experience managing payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Gusto, Paylocity, or Workday).
· Legal Acumen: Strong understanding of employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, EEO, Ada, and state-specific laws).
· Soft Skills: Exceptional emotional intelligence, active listening skills, and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
Preferred:
· Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Experience utilizing modern HRIS platforms and automated background screening vendors (e.g., Checkr, HireRight).
