About PJ's Coffee
Phyllis Jordan, a pioneer in the coffee industry, founded PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans in 1978 and demonstrated that better beans, superior roasting techniques, and pure passion for the art of coffee making mattered. In 2008, the company was purchased by New Orleans natives and brothers, Paul, Steven, and Scott Ballard. PJ’s Coffee serves a wide variety of hot, iced, and frozen coffee beverages using only the top 1% of Arabica beans, as well as organic tea and fresh breakfast pastries. PJ’s Original Cold Brew™ Ice Coffee is brewed daily using a special cold-drip process that protects the flavor and strength of the beans while producing a coffee that is two-thirds less acidic – a process and technique developed by its founder and used for more than 40 years at all PJ’s locations. Bags of whole bean coffee and single-serve cups of PJ’s Coffee are available for sale in-store and online. With more than 145 operating stores, including four international locations, PJ’s Coffee continues to grow in the U.S. and abroad. PJ's Coffee of New Orleans is based in the coffee capital of the world. The history of coffee in Louisiana is rich and strong. For more than two centuries, the finest coffee beans from around the world have always come here first. Coffee arrived in New Orleans in 1720 when French explorers introduced it to the city. Today, one third of all the coffee in North America lands first on the docks of the Crescent City. Savor a cup of coffee almost anywhere in North America and you'll taste New Orleans. Naturally, the largest coffee roasting plant in the world is located here too. Every cup of coffee PJ's best represents our commitment to the legacy and culture of the Crescent City. We travel the globe to hand-select only the finest coffee beans - from Sumatra to Ethiopia, from Colombia to Kenya - everywhere the best coffee grows. Plucked be hand at the peak ripeness, the fruits of the Coffea Arabica bush are transported to mills where the beans are expertly removed, dried and hand-sorted before shipping to our artesian roasters. The "PJ" in our name stands for Phyllis Jordan, our founder who opened her first coffee house over two decades ago. She's one of the pioneers of gourmet coffee - her idea: to create unique coffee blends and roast the beans in small batches - the same way we do it today in our roasting facility not far from Bourbon Street.
