Draftsman

Role Summary

The Draftsman is responsible for preparing accurate engineering drawings, technical documentation, and design layouts for civil infrastructure and construction projects. The role supports project teams by producing detailed drawings, conducting field surveys, preparing quantity take-offs, and assisting in resolving technical and design-related issues while ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and update civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD and other drafting software.
• Produce general drafting and presentation drawings, including colored drawings and photo overlays.
• Prepare road alignment designs, grading plans, intersections, earthworks, and infrastructure layouts.
• Develop drawings for subdivisions, roads, parking areas, and related civil works.
• Assist project teams with minor civil design and drafting requirements.
• Conduct site visits and field surveys to verify dimensions and update as-built drawings.
• Take measurements, amend existing drawings, and prepare new drawings to reflect actual site conditions.
• Prepare traffic management and diversion drawings in coordination with project engineers.
• Perform quantity take-offs and measurements to support the Commercial Department in preparing BOQs, quotations, and variation claims.
• Identify and resolve technical drafting and design issues.
• Maintain drawing registers, revisions, and project documentation.
• Provide administrative and technical support to engineering and project teams.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, standards, and client requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant drafting software.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Civil Draftsman within the construction or engineering industry.
• Experience in infrastructure, roadworks, and civil engineering projects is preferred.
• Strong technical drafting and detailing skills.
• Good understanding of civil engineering principles, road design, and construction practices.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience in preparing as-built drawings and conducting site surveys.
• Knowledge of quantity take-offs and BOQ preparation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
