If you could name one factor that, above all else, contributed to the success of a visionary software product, what would it be?
Sound development practices? An Agile management style coupled with using best practices in continuous delivery? A lean, entrepreneurial approach with a focus on the customer? For me, the answer to the question lies not in the individual nodes of the factors that lead to success, but in the connections between them. A systems view of major factors to success and an ongoing practice of asking how the system and its interconnections are evolving is the absolute essential marker of success rather than a reductionistic approach. This is the philosophy I bring to my craft and that guides my growth and the vision I can offer as a software professional.
I’m a seasoned software engineer with 15 years across the stack with a focus on backend Python development and a newfound love of Typescript. As a software tools and methodologies enthusiast, you will find me constantly delving into new languages and tinkering with new tools and development practices, in an effort to find the most seamless, most effective engineering approach.
I am a complexity and systems theory aficionado, I’m fascinated by the intersection of complexity theory and software design, thinking about ways to leverage the science to design robust and resilient software systems, as well as business organization, cultures, and ecosystems.
I'm also committed to helping culture evolve, and I believe a concrete way to do this is to reinvent organizational structures.
