Adrian M Ryan

The core of everything I do is helping real people solve real problems. Throughout my career I've built offline and online courses, designed custom interactive learning management system, hosted dozens of hackathons and conferences, partnered with political scientists to fund underserved rural political candidates and push forward our understanding of how funding affects politics, and most recently negotiated and managed nearly $600k worth of accounts (including turning a failed POC into our largest customer) for a startup with automated QA testing software while helping build the product in TS & C++. I do my best work in collaborative, entrepreneurial settings where there is ample opportunity to take risks, experiment with new ideas, and grow my skills. I love working with other people to define problems and create new solutions to them, whether those are customers, users, clients, or coworkers. I take my work seriously, but myself less so. I enjoy tinkering on my bikes as much as I enjoy riding them. I hosted a podcast about science fiction books for three years. I have designed multiple dungeons and dragons campaigns from the ground up, and even some custom RPG rulesets. I am currently working on an indie game with friends in rural Alaska to capture the beauty and mystery of its landscapes and ecosystems. I used to perform fire juggling shows. And I've spent a lot of time meditating and working on my mental health, so that I can be open, authentic, and caring both for myself and for the people I care about. I am currently looking for work that will allow me to help build humanity's collective future. As ML tools such as the GPTs, AlphaFold, and MuZero (not to mention the social media attention algorithms) increase in capacity, their impact on our lives will depend not only on their underlying technology, but how they are deployed in products along side more traditional compute & social networking platforms. In addition, the way people learn and work is in the process of drastically changing, from becoming more remote-oriented to relying on many different compute platforms in ways we sometimes barely notice. I'm very excited to tackle these challenges head on, and in the process help startups grow into sustainable, long-term business.
