Federal Operations Associate
About this role
The Federal Operations Associate will support GovSignals' federal business development efforts by building repeatable processes, producing research and proposal materials, and coordinating events and operational cadence across the team. This role sits close to the CEO and founding team, and will directly influence pipeline and revenue while you learn federal procurement and startup go-to-market execution.
What you'll do
- Research federal agencies, procurement opportunities, and key decision-makers and prepare concise account briefs.
- Produce weekly briefs that surface priorities, developments, and where leadership attention is needed.
- Support proposal development by drafting capability narratives and coordinating inputs across the team.
- Plan and execute conference and event strategy, including outreach and follow-through.
- Own the operational cadence through weekly syncs, pipeline reviews, and cross-functional check-ins.
- Build templates, workflows, dashboards, and documented processes to create a repeatable, scalable system.
- Support commercial sales efforts with targeted research as needed.
- Deliver high-quality written materials and actionable deliverables that influence pipeline decisions.
What GovSignals is looking for
- 1–3 years of professional experience; strong candidates may come from military service, consulting, research, business development, government, startups, or non-traditional paths.
- Exceptional writing skills and the ability to produce clear, concise briefs and proposals daily.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, take ownership, and build systems from scratch.
- Genuine interest in national security, government technology, or public sector innovation.
- Comfort with high-performing teams and willingness to work in an intense, mission-driven environment.
- Bonus: military or government experience, startup background, or familiarity with CRM and project management tools.
