UCS currently has three open positions. **1. Science Fellow (Grant Funded)** This hybrid position is grant-funded for a maximum of two years. It is located in close proximity to California. This is a bargaining unit position. The Science Fellow will conduct research and analysis in support of grant-funded projects within the Western States Program. The role involves contributing to research, including publishing in peer-review journals, and aiding in background research, planning, and collaborating with coalition and grassroots partners. The fellow will also communicate findings, advocate for technology and policy solutions, and represent UCS in various forums. A Ph.D. in a climate science or energy systems-related field is preferred. Strong research skills and communication skills are essential. The salary for this position is $109,232.02. If you are a CA Resident, we offer a 12% salary differential. The deadline to apply is February 5, 2026. **2. Washington Representative** This is a permanent, hybrid position located within 50 miles of DC. The Washington Representative will focus on Clean Transportation policy. This is a bargaining unit position. The role involves planning, coordinating, and participating in advocacy before Congress and the Administration. Approximately 80% of this role is dedicated to external advocacy efforts. The Washington Representative will design, develop, support, and lead legislative strategies, identify target policymakers, and collaborate with outreach colleagues. A BA or MA degree is required. The applicant should have 7+ years of relevant experience. The salary for this position is $109,232.02. If you are a CA Resident, we offer a 12% salary differential. Occasional work outside of standard hours for events, travel, or time-sensitive matters may be required. Periodic domestic and international travel is required for the Science Fellow (Grant Funded) position. Periodic domestic travel is required for the Washington Representative position.
