National Math Camps is currently seeking passionate and experienced math educators to join its team. The company believes that summer math camps provide transformative experiences that deeply strengthen students' mathematical knowledge and identity. National Math Camps has three open positions: **1. Founding Academic Director, Elementary Family Math Camp:** This on-site position involves designing and leading the academic experience for a new elementary family math program launching in summer 2027. The Academic Director will collaborate with the CEO, focusing on curriculum, faculty selection, and cultivating a vibrant academic community. The camp will serve students ages 8–10 in the National Math Stars (NMS) Voyager program. The position consists of two linked appointments: Academic Planning Director (part-time, hourly, starting in spring 2026) and Academic Director (seasonal, salaried, starting summer 2027). The Academic Director is expected to be on site for approximately three weeks in 2027, with the possibility of up to five weeks in future summers. **2. Incoming Academic Director, Camp Conway:** This on-site role focuses on refining and elevating the academic experience at Camp Conway. The Academic Director will oversee curriculum, thematic direction, faculty hiring, and academic aspects of camper admissions. The position reports to the CEO and involves two linked appointments: Academic Planning Director (part-time, hourly) and Academic Director (seasonal, salaried). The Incoming Academic Director will shadow and collaborate with the Outgoing Academic Director during Summer 2026, and fully assume both roles afterward. Camp Conway is held on the Harvey Mudd College and Scripps College campuses in Claremont, CA, with the Academic Director on-site for five weeks each summer. **3. Founding Academic Director, Early High School Math Camp:** This on-site position involves designing and leading the academic experience for a new math camp for students ages 13 - 16. The Academic Director will collaborate with the CEO on program structure, curriculum, and faculty selection. The Academic Director should expect to be on site for 5-7 weeks total each summer. This includes either two 3-week camp sessions or one 4-week camp session (TBD), plus one additional week for preparation and wrap-up. The position consists of two linked appointments: Academic Planning Director (part-time, hourly, starting in spring 2026) and Academic Director (seasonal, salaried, starting summer 2027). The roles require skills in Mathematics, Teaching, Curriculum Design, Leadership, Mentorship, and Collaboration. Other skills include Active Learning, Problem Solving, Community Building, Student Engagement, Faculty Hiring, Academic Planning, Program Development, Guest Speaker Coordination, Instructional Quality, Feedback, and Training. The positions are primarily on-site. The Founding Academic Director positions (Elementary Family Math Camp and Early High School Math Camp) will be on-site for the duration of the camp, with additional time for preparation. The Incoming Academic Director for Camp Conway will be on-site at the Harvey Mudd College and Scripps College campuses in Claremont, CA, for five weeks each summer. 1. **What are the key responsibilities of the Founding Academic Director, Elementary Family Math Camp?** The Founding Academic Director will design the camp's academic program, hire faculty, identify students, support faculty, finalize courses, prepare for programming, and lead the faculty during camp, including teaching classes. 2. **What is the commitment expected for the Incoming Academic Director, Camp Conway?** The on-site commitment is five weeks each summer, including four weeks of camp and approximately one week of preparatory and wrap-up work. 3. **What qualifications are National Math Camps looking for in the candidates?** Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in mathematics or a related field (strongly preferred), significant teaching experience, math enrichment experience, a passion for students, leadership skills, collaboration skills, and enthusiasm. 4. **What is the compensation for the Academic Director appointments?** The Academic Planning Director appointments are compensated hourly. The Academic Director appointments receive a stipend per week. The Elementary Family Math Camp and Early High School Math Camp Academic Directors will receive a stipend of $2000/week, and the Camp Conway Academic Director will receive a stipend of $9,000 for the five-week period. In addition, room, board, and travel are provided. 5. **What additional benefits are available to camp leadership?** Children/dependents of camp staff receive a 20% discount on tuition to any NMC camp.
