Compensation: $45.48 - $47.28 / hour



Description

Perform highly skilled and complex maintenance work in the inspection, repair, maintenance, construction and installation of all types of power plant equipment and apparatus; the work may be performed on an assigned shift basis.

Expected to align personal goals with the Mission, Vision, and Values of OVEC/IKEC.




Key Responsibilities

  • Perform highly skilled work pertaining to the inspection, repair and maintenance of all types of electrical equipment, including work such as: major repairs on transformers, coil repairs; major repairs to air circuit breakers; analyzing, inspecting, testing and repairing of motors and their circuits for proper operations; correct troubles that may develop.
  • Perform highly skilled work pertaining to the inspection, repair and maintenance of all types of mechanical equipment, including work such as: the complete dismantling, repair, alignment and reassembly of prime movers, generators, motors, high pressure pumps, major coal-handling equipment and similar machinery; diagnose and correct troubles that occur in such equipment, and perform the necessary piping, valve work, blacksmithing, bench and shop work and associated rigging.
  • Perform highly skilled work pertaining to the operation and care of all types of machine shop equipment, such as lathes, shapers, drill presses, milling machines, grinders and associated equipment used in the making, finishing, fitting and assembly of metal parts and tools to close tolerances and using such parts and tools in the construction, installation, assembly, repair and maintenance of power plant equipment.
  • Perform highly skilled work pertaining to: electric arc and oxyacetylene welding, such as welding high-pressure or high-temperature piping and special alloys, brazing and blacksmithing, heat treating, metal spraying, silver soldering and similar work.
  • Assist employees of equal or higher classification, as assigned and direct employees of the same or lower classification, as assigned.
  • Perform similar maintenance work for temporary periods, as assigned, at other plants and stations.
  • Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition; clean equipment, tools and work areas after completion of job.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training materials and instruct and direct hands-on-training of other employees as assigned.
  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
  • Perform duties in accordance with operating instructions, safety regulations, and current practices.
  • Perform similar or less skilled work, as assigned.
  • Be familiar with tools, equipment and clearance procedures, and the rules, safety practices, and procedures applicable to the work.
  • Perform duties in accordance with all applicable federal and state safety laws and regulations, and all applicable company safety rules and operating procedures.
  • Responsible for knowing and complying with the laws and Code of Business Conduct related to the performance of the aforementioned duties.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass an examination and job demonstrations, if required.
  • Through a combination of education and/or experience must have sufficient knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities listed above as well as the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of higher classifications in the line of promotion.
  • Must fully qualify in one of the Maintenance specialties: electrical, welding, machinist and/or mechanical and partially qualify in at least one of the three remaining specialties.
  • To qualify for the welding specialty, must meet the highest requirements equivalent to those specified by the code regulations set up by the ASME and which are approved by the states of Indiana and Ohio.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of the tools and equipment and their skilled use in modern electrical and/or mechanical maintenance work; the layout, construction, functions and operation of the mechanical and/or electrical equipment and apparatus in the plant and about the plant property.
  • Must be able to interpret and work from complex blueprints and specifications.
  • Must be able to lead and direct those assigned.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of equipment and clearance procedures, and the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work.
