Compactor Service Writer (Chesapeake, VA)
Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering great customer service? Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment is looking for a Service Writer to join our growing Compactor Division.
In this role, you'll serve as a key point of contact between our customers, field technicians, and service team, helping keep repairs and maintenance projects running smoothly from start to finish. The ideal candidate has strong communication and administrative skills, is proficient in Microsoft Office, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Professional written and verbal communication, including email correspondence, is essential.

What You'll Do:
Serve as the first point of contact for all compactor service needs—communicating quotes, updating customers, and documenting complaints professionally
Collaborate with the Branch Manager to schedule diagnostics, identify repairs, and confirm completed work
Manage customer records, service quotes, work orders, parts ordering, technician scheduling, and warranty claims
Handle additional administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing documents, and monitoring maintenance
What We’re Looking For:
High School Diploma or GED required
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional email correspondence
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
Ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Experience with a Dealer Management System (DMS) is a plus
Mechanical or service industry experience is preferred, but not required

Founded in 1985 by Rich Hood, Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems began in a modest office in Centreville, Maryland. Together with his wife, who was his first office manager and bookkeeper, Rich moved their office to Easton, Maryland in 1988, which subsequently became the Corporate headquarters location. In 1993, the Company opened an additional facility in Clinton, MD and continued a pattern of growth from that point on.
Today, Mid-Atlantic Waste serves customers with (8) eight fully staffed service locations in the Mid-Atlantic region. These facilities include Easton, MD; Clinton, MD; Chesapeake, VA; New Castle, DE; Salem, VA; Pittsburgh, PA; Manassas, VA; and Hampton, VA.

Rich envisioned a company that would offer its customers superior quality in products, service, and parts. This vision has allowed the Company to grow to over 100 employees in eight offices.
