Sergio Rodriguez

I am a passionate Software and Machine Learning Engineer and I love startups (I actually went to Y Combinator with one). I'm currently a Machine Learning Engineer at Block's Cash App where I focus on applying ML and NLP to solve business problems in the customer support space. A few years ago I completed my Masters at the University of Melbourne, where I extended my software engineering skill set with advanced Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing skills. Before coming to Melbourne, I worked for 2 years with a small, amazing team of people building Hogaru.com from scratch. Hogaru is a Colombian startup that provides on-demand cleaning services to offices and households through an app. In those 2 years, I built most of Hogaru's software and the startup grew to become a Y Combinator and Endeavor company that now employs 800+ single mothers from Colombia's most vulnerable population. I enjoy working with data-driven and pragmatic people. I like experiencing the business front line, being involved in strategic decisions, and then going back to my computer to build products that solve high-value business problems. Don't let my pragmatism fool you though; I'm very serious about software design and code quality. I am a lifelong learner. That's my hobby. I taught myself to code and I actively expand my toolkit in my spare time. If you look closely you will notice that I'm also a very proud career changer.
