Generalist with a wide range of experience from engineering to product management, driven more by the purpose than the credentials. In the past, I led the overall strategy of places at Uber. Places, human speak for latitude and longitude, includes search, detecting the current place, destination prediction (are you going to your favorite restaurant or gym), personalization (home/work) and collecting ground truth data. My management style involves using reason/math to promote the right strategy to approach a problem, compassion for end users, coordination between different groups, facilitating high quality communication within the team, and using good statistics (no slicing/dicing of data to make your stats look great). Deriving joy from shipping great products is highly encouraged! My current interests are: Visual Odometry and SLAM, Control Theory, Energy Grids, Machine Learning for Good, Small satellites, Propulsion systems and lately fascinated by some obscure musical instruments like the Sursingar.
