Fullstack Software Engineer

A full-time, on-site role in downtown San Francisco focusing on a modern TypeScript/Next.js stack with AI-powered experiences, real-time collaboration, and data-driven surfaces. You’ll work directly with the CEO and a small, fast team to ship high-quality software that scales.

What youll do

• Ship end-to-end product features across the Next.js App Router (Server Components, Server Actions, Route Handlers) with TypeScript strictness.
• Build AI workflows using the Vercel AI SDK and integrate them into robust, user-friendly experiences.
• Orchestrate background jobs and pipelines and connect external systems for data import/export.
• Model and query data with Drizzle ORM and Postgres; write safe migrations; keep schemas, types, and queries aligned with product needs.
• Own performance and reliability: streaming UIs, caching strategies, error boundaries, logging/instrumentation, and Core Web Vitals.
• Maintain code quality with type-driven design and clean abstractions; participate in constructive code reviews.
• Collaborate with product and design colleagues to scope, decompose, and deliver iterative value; document decisions in the repo’s readme/docs.

What thrv is looking for

• 2+ years of fullstack engineering experience, preferably at early-stage startups or as a founder.
• Strong TypeScript and JavaScript proficiency.
• Experience with Next.js App Router (Server Components, Server Actions, Route Handlers).
• Experience with Drizzle ORM and Postgres; data modeling and querying; safe migrations.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs, webhooks, and background jobs/queues.
• Focus on performance, reliability, and functionality; streaming UIs; Core Web Vitals.
• Active GitHub profile or other clear evidence of daily coding.
• Hands-on experience with LLM/AI apps using Vercel AI SDK or equivalent; familiarity with modern AI tooling (Cursor, Claude, Codex, etc.).
• Experience with type-driven design and clean abstractions.
• Strong CS fundamentals; degree in CS/Physics/Economics or related technical field preferred.
