Product Engineer

Stand Insurance is seeking a Product Engineer with 7-10 years of experience to own and lead large product pillars across the insurance lifecycle. You’ll drive critical systems—from core workflows (policy, underwriting, claims, payments) to ambitious new products like wildfire preparedness inspections, risk monitoring, and customer-facing mitigation tools. This high-leverage role collaborates with applied scientists, product leaders, and stakeholders to translate complex domain problems into shippable systems and to productionize models that impact risk, revenue, and customer behavior.

What youll do

• Own end-to-end product surfaces across core workflows and new product initiatives (policy, underwriting, claims, payments, wildfire inspections, risk tools).
• Translate complex domain problems into shippable systems.
• Decide what to build, not just how to build it.
• Productionize models, pipelines, and tools that directly impact risk, revenue, and customer behavior.
• Collaborate with applied scientists, product leaders, and stakeholders to align on strategy and outcomes.
• Maintain accountability for product outcomes with broad surface area and influence over direction.

What Stand Insurance is looking for

• 7-10 years of experience in full-stack product engineering.
• Experience owning product surfaces end-to-end.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.
• Experience deploying, operating, and monitoring applications on modern PaaS or cloud platforms (Heroku, Vercel, Railway, etc.).
• Experience using LLMs/AI agents to improve engineering workflows.
• Previous founder or founding engineer experience.
• Must work in-office 4 days/week in SF or Seattle.
• Experience in regulated industries like insurance, fintech, or health.
• Strong CS fundamentals.
