(Senior) Engineering Manager, Foundations

Semgrep is seeking a (Senior) Engineering Manager to lead our Scans team, a new and high-growth feature within SemGrip Managed Scanning. You’ll start as an individual contributor to learn the codebase, then scale to leading a team of six staff/senior engineers, with a manager also responsible for a similarly sized group. You’ll report to Chris Dolan, Director of Foundations, and this hybrid SF role requires 3 days per week in the office.

What youll do

• Focus on optimizing the findings aspect of SemGrip Managed Scanning, including improving the speed of the findings page and working with Elasticsearch.
• Onboard as an individual contributor for the first two months to gain deep familiarity with the codebase and engineering challenges, before leading a team of six staff/senior engineers and supervising a manager with a similar-sized group.
• Partner closely with the Product Manager to define the team's vision, roadmap, and priorities, contributing your product sense to decision-making.
• Mentor and grow the engineers on your team, handling performance management and career development.
• Ensure the successful execution and timely delivery of projects, navigating changes in team scope and ownership.

What Semgrep is looking for

• Experience with modern backend or full-stack development.
• Experience in infrastructure or platform engineering.
• Experience with Elasticsearch.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Ability to contribute product sense to decision-making.
• Has been managing engineering teams for 3+ years.
• Ability to onboard as an individual contributor to gain deep familiarity with codebase and engineering challenges.
• Experience collaborating with Product Managers.
