Photon is seeking a Member of Technical Staff (macOS DevOps) to join our San Francisco team and own the macOS data center infrastructure that powers our developer workflows. You’ll work hands-on with a small, high-caliber group to build reliable, scalable systems and deliver automated solutions that keep our Mac fleet running smoothly. This role matters for accelerating development, improving reliability, and enabling our teams to ship faster.

What youll do

• Build, operate, and scale macOS data center infrastructure.
• Develop automation using Swift and shell scripting (bash/zsh).
• Manage CI/CD pipelines and developer infrastructure.
• Build and improve automation, deployment, and monitoring systems.
• Ensure high levels of system reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve systems and infrastructure issues.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to support development and production workflows.
• Continuously improve DevOps practices and operational excellence.
• Work in-person with a small, high-caliber engineering team in San Francisco.

What Photon is looking for

• Mid-Level experience with macOS systems at scale and production infrastructure, plus strong CS fundamentals.
• Strong proficiency in Swift (required) and solid experience with shell scripting (bash/zsh) and automation.
• Deep knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD, monitoring, deployment, infrastructure management) and reliability engineering.
• Experience maintaining and operating production infrastructure; familiarity with Linux environments.
• Understanding of networking, system performance, and reliability engineering; strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and reliable automation code.
• Bonus: Experience managing macOS fleets or data center environments; familiarity with MDM tools (e.g., Jamf); knowledge of low-level macOS internals or system frameworks; experience with Rust or Objective-C.
