Forward Deployed Software Engineer - Edge Autonomous Systems

Palantir Technologies is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to join a newly formed team focused on developing software for autonomous systems used in tactical missions. This role involves building, integrating, and deploying software that can run on compute-constrained, intermittently connected platforms—including drones, UxVs, and upstream control systems—to enable users to execute missions via autonomous systems. You’ll collaborate with sensing, AI, and systems engineering experts to deliver solutions that redefine complex real-world mission scenarios in both military and civilian contexts.

What youll do

• Build, test, integrate, and deploy mission-critical autonomy and algorithmic software for various autonomous systems.
• Connect autonomy solutions to the core Palantir platform, AI components, and sensor/data fusion services, and agentic decision-making engines.
• Tackle deployment, integration, security, software testing, flight testing, and user experience challenges to make solutions work across diverse environments.
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams including sensing/fusion, AI, systems engineering, UX, and hardware/robotics experts to deliver well-integrated solutions.

What Palantir Technologies is looking for

• 2+ years of software development experience for edge or autonomous systems (drones, self-driving, or robotic automation).
• Proficiency in Python, Rust, Go, C++, or Java.
• Experience with software deployment, CI and automation tools.
• Active US Security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance.
• Ability to travel 25-75%.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment.
• Experience deploying and maintaining production systems.
• Proficiency with Linux/GNU.
• Experience with active autonomous systems integration.
• Experience with sensor integration (radar, cameras, RF) and real-time response actuation.
• Experience with APIs, documentation, networking, security, and authentication.
• Experience with edge networking, streaming/real-time data, and high-volume/low-latency sensor data.
• Familiarity with mavlink/ardupilot/px4.
• Strong CS fundamentals or a degree in a technical field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
