Senior Software Engineer, Backend

As a Senior Backend Engineer on our backend team, you’ll own mission-critical systems that scale with our growing network of restaurants and local businesses. This 100% remote role offers the chance to influence architecture and product outcomes across a global, fast-moving startup.

What youll do

• Build and own reliable, high-volume backend services powering e-commerce, loyalty, and marketing features.
• Design, implement, and ship scalable features in TypeScript/Node.js aligned with product strategy and data flows.
• Improve reliability and observability using Temporal, Kafka, and modern monitoring tooling.
• Collaborate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to solve business-critical problems end-to-end.
• Drive architecture decisions for a hyper-growth consumer-facing platform and mentor teammates.

What Owner is looking for

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience in e-commerce, loyalty programs, or marketing systems.
• Experience with hyper-growth consumer-facing mobile/web products.
• Experience with Temporal, Kafka, or modern observability tools.
• Experience building and operating high-volume, scalable backend systems.
• Based in the United States or Canada (remote-friendly).
• Experience working in a high-growth startup environment.
