Backend Engineer (Remote)

NetBox Labs is seeking a senior Backend Engineer to join our Observability Product team. This remote role focuses on packet-level networking near the Linux kernel, building open source and commercial observability tools, and delivering impactful features for customers. You’ll operate with autonomy to influence both open-source projects and our product offerings.

What youll do

• Build and maintain open source and commercial observability software, focusing on the open-source Observability Agent.
• Work on low-level systems and network programming, dealing with SNMP and eBPF.
• Integrate with NetBox’s data model to reconcile observed vs. intended network states.
• Define and maintain data schemas and APIs shared across products.
• Become client-facing over time, helping implement solutions for customers and evangelizing the product.

What NetBox Labs is looking for

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Familiarity with C++ and proficiency in Go.
• Experience in low-level network programming close to the Linux kernel, including eBPF and SNMP.
• Experience building network monitoring and observability tools within Infrastructure teams.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Must be US-based and able to work East Coast (US) hours.
• Strong CS fundamentals (education background generalized).
