About this role
Homebase is at an inflection point—moving beyond SaaS and going all-in on AI. We’re scaling our Hiring Assistant, an AI agent that writes job posts, sources talent, screens applicants, and books interviews for small business owners. As our Engineering Manager, you will lead the team responsible for this flagship product, shaping how 100,000+ businesses hire and grow their teams.
This is a true people-leadership and product-delivery role. You’ll manage a full-stack engineering team, drive execution, and partner closely with Product and Design to ship, scale, and monetize one of the highest-visibility initiatives in the company.
What You’ll Own
Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team (currently 6-7, expanding in 2026)
Drive delivery for the AI Hiring Assistant—roadmap, execution, quality, and outcomes
Bring AI fluency to the team; evaluate and operationalize LLM/agent-driven approaches
Work cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Marketing to deliver features rapidly and intelligently
Build engineering excellence: reliability, scalability, security, performance, and shipping rigor
Represent your team to leadership and executives—crisp communication, strong prioritization, clear tradeoffs
Foster a culture of experimentation, iteration, and measurable customer impact
Hire, coach, and develop engineers; build the habits and systems of a healthy, accountable team
