Harper is building the AI-native insurance brokerage to move from human-led to AI-led workflows at scale. As a Member of Technical Staff, AI Engineer, you’ll design and ship AI-native applications from day one, ensuring reliability and speed while prototyping autonomous AI Agents that handle real business-critical workflows. This role sits at the core of turning AI research into production impact in a multi-trillion-dollar market.

What youll do

• Build Day 1 AI-native applications and production systems that automate quoting, underwriting, and customer service at scale.
• Ensure reliability and scalability of AI services deployed in production.
• Build distributed, scalable, and reliable systems to support growing operations.
• Prototype and build fully autonomous AI Agents that handle real insurance operations end-to-end.
• Work with AI Researchers to model and use context to enhance agent capabilities.

What Harper is looking for

• 2+ years of experience in software/AI engineering.
• Frontend development experience with React.js to build or integrate UI components for AI features.
• Hands-on experience with large language models and building autonomous AI agents or AI-native products.
• Ability to prototype and validate autonomous AI agents, including evaluation of agent behavior and safety considerations.
• Experience delivering reliable, scalable production systems with monitoring, observability, and ML Ops practices.
• Experience with distributed data processing and streaming systems (Kafka, Flink) to enable scalable AI workloads.
• Cloud platform experience with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, SageMaker) for deploying and scaling AI services.
• Proficiency in Python for building AI-native applications, including model integration, tooling, and production-grade code.
• Strong CS fundamentals.
