Senior Backend Engineer / Integration Engineer (SAP & Enterprise Interfaces) (m/w/d)
About this role
Just so you know what you’re getting into: This role is a true engineering position, not a middleware configurator role. You will help build the integration layer of Personal.manager (PM) on the Node.js/PostgreSQL side—complete with its own REST API, outbox, worker, and event bus—and programmatically connect it to target systems via the SAP Integration Suite. If you have spent the last few years mostly configuring existing interfaces in CPI/PI/PO, you will find a different kind of work here.
Personal.manager digitalizes duty rosters and workforce planning in the healthcare sector. For our platform to function in real clinical environments, it must interact cleanly with SAP HCM and other enterprise systems via the SAP Integration Suite and a DMZ gateway.
The target architecture is already defined: a dedicated integration layer in the Node.js/PostgreSQL backend, REST API plus asynchronous events and webhooks, DB outbox + worker, EMQX as an internal bus, functional domain boundaries, idempotency, retries, dead-letter queues, audit logs, and versioned payload contracts. You will bring this target architecture to life through implementation—using TypeScript on our side, and programmatically on the SAP Integration Suite side wherever code is the right answer.
You will be the technical owner for the entire integration domain—architecture, code, standards, testing, sign-off, and operations. There is no separation between "Lead" and "Hands-on", and no team reporting to you. If you prefer cleanly building integrations yourself over just reviewing them, this is the role for you.
