DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent, reporting to the Head of SDG2 is expected to:
1.Support core accelerator activities:
a.Content design, operational coordination and planning, and/or facilitation of bootcamps, workshopsand other innovation support activities;
b.Support the start-up/innovation sourcing process (innovation challenges, pipeline sharing, activescouting, etc.) as applicable;
c.Support the matching start-ups/projects with WFP Country Offices, HQ units or Regional Bureaux andvice versa - as needed;
d.Ensure that all innovation support activities are planned and implemented in an effective and efficientmanner with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
2.Support innovations/new ventures (internal and external) to potentially scale and to advance towards ZeroHunger:
e.Support and coach project teams from ideation to implementation (as applicable), usingmethodologies such as human centred design, lean start-up, project management and businessmodelling;
f.Support and coach innovation teams on key decisions regarding product features and technologyelements;
g.Assist in defining key performance indicators and milestones for the innovation project and assuretheir implementation, impact measurement and reporting;
h.Support the innovation team throughout the Sprint project curriculum, as required;
i.Support piloting with and/or integration within WFP operations or within other organizations (asapplicable), while liaising with internal units such as country offices, procurement and legal, asrequired;
j.Participate and carry out discussions with WFP colleagues in other divisions or in WFP operations toalign on project scope and objectives; and
k.Execute any other task as required.
3.Support the overall innovation accelerator operations:
a.Provide analysis & content preparation (data on projects, PowerPoint presentations, briefs, etc.) forcorporate priority topics and management meetings;
b.Participate and carry out discussions with colleagues in other divisions or external stakeholders ontopics related to innovation;
c.Support other core processes of the Innovation Accelerator (e.g. innovation sourcing; innovationbootcamps; sprint programme; thought leadership; scale-up enablement; innovation services;knowledge management) as required;
d.Support the Head of the Innovation Accelerator and the Director of INK with any other activities asrequired.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Be a Master's student or a graduate from a recognized university;
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset.
Some experience in a start-up role, start-up accelerator, innovations in private businesses or innovations inthe humanitarian or international development sector is desirable.
Passion and understanding of technology innovations (e.g. mobile apps, blockchain, artificial intelligence)and business model innovations (e.g. innovative finance, sharing economy);
Academic experience in innovation project life cycle - from ideation, minimum viable product, testing,prototyping and implementation;
Get things done in a scrappy and hands-on way;
Effectively delivering impactful elements of projects in a fast-moving environment, ideally for newbusinesses, new business models, start-ups etc.;
Able to contribute to new and original solutions to complex problems and to design new products ideas;
Strong conceptual thinking to develop new strategies & innovative projects;
Able to interact with a broad range of stakeholders and external audience with maturity and tact;
Excellent communication/presentation skills, with the ability to write strategy documents, to developbusiness plans and to write and deliver presentations;
Collaborative spirit, able to partner with a wide range of people at all levels and across different culturesand to act with credibility and diplomacy;
Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy;
Sets high-level of ambition for the project and own work to achieve impact for the hungry people we serve;
Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the UN World Food Programme.
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout the assignment, selected candidates have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

Accelerator activities effectively carried out;
Innovation projects/start-ups effectively supported;
Effective support of operations of the Innovation Accelerator.
TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT
This opportunity is particularly well-suited for students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in an international organization. It offers valuable exposure to WFP’s operations and the chance to contribute meaningfully to its mission.
The selected candidate will receive IT equipment and training material; however, financial compensation and medical coverage are not provided by WFP. Applicants may seek alternative funding opportunities, such as university grants or external scholarships, to support their assignment.
