Experience: as a software engineer (preferred: staff level), with recent experience leading technical projects. Must have had senior software eng experience and STRONG IC technical competency. Requirements: Proven experience building and scaling robust backend systems (APIs, distributed services, and data pipelines); Someone who has been an engineering manager for a long time and has stale coding skills (we want "high slope" candidates, not plateaued ones); High-caliber team experience - used to managing skilled, high-performing engineers; Proven experience building and scaling robust backend systems (APIs, distributed services, and data pipelines); BS/MS in CS, EE, or similar technical field; Top-tier program such as Stanford, Harvard, or MIT; Strong grasp of systems architecture, performance optimization, and reliability engineering; Ability to navigate trade-offs; Proficiency in DevOps and infrastructure tooling (e.g., Docker, CI/CD, observability stacks, AWS or GCP); Strong written and verbal communication skills; Customer- and user-oriented mindset; Located or willing to move to New York; Hierarchical mindset; Pure big tech experience; Job hopping - Frequent job changes (we want someone who will "hunker down"); Experience in early-stage AI/tech startups (Seed to Series A) with less than 100 people, ideally in healthcare.
