About this role
Crosby is hiring a Founding Frontend Engineer to own and build the user-facing experience of its platform, working on-site in New York City with the founders, product, and in-house legal team. This role is critical for shaping the frontend architecture, design system, and UX that enable legal professionals to work with unprecedented efficiency.
What you'll do
- Own the user-facing experience and deliver high-quality interfaces for the Crosby platform.
- Architect and build the core frontend using modern frameworks and tools like React, Vite, and TanStack.
- Design and implement intuitive, high-performance UIs for complex, data-intensive legal workflows.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on features in close collaboration with product and the in-house legal team.
- Establish a maintainable frontend codebase, component library, and design system from the ground up.
- Collaborate with backend engineers to design and implement APIs that enable a seamless user experience.
- Mentor and help recruit world-class frontend engineers as the team grows.
- Shape the user experience, technical direction, and culture as a founding engineer in an in-person NYC office.
What Crosby is looking for
- 6+ years of frontend engineering experience with deep proficiency in TypeScript and modern frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or Svelte).
- Hands-on experience with frontend tooling such as Vite and libraries like TanStack.
- Proven experience designing interfaces for complex, data-intensive, or AI-powered applications.
- Strong user empathy and attention to detail with a track record of shipping polished products.
- Builder mindset with experience creating and scaling systems from the ground up and making foundational technical decisions.
- Effective collaborator who communicates across product, design, and backend teams.
- Ownership mentality with the ability to drive projects from ideation through delivery.
- Strong design sense and experience with modern design tools (e.g., Figma).
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
- Familiarity with Python and backend stacks.
