Crosby is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to own the design, implementation, and production quality of intelligent features that power the platform, working at the intersection of systems engineering and applied ML. This role sits on a product-focused team that collaborates with backend, product, and in-house legal experts to deliver high-impact AI features that make users more effective.

What you'll do

• Own the full lifecycle of AI features, from system design through deployment and iteration.
• Design, build, and scale core AI systems including complex Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agentic workflows.
• Fine tune and adapt language models to improve performance on specialized legal tasks.
• Develop evaluation methods and monitoring systems to ensure production reliability, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Apply pragmatic, state-of-the-art AI techniques to solve immediate product challenges.
• Collaborate closely with product, backend, and legal teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

What Crosby is looking for

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on building and shipping AI/ML powered products.
• Deep proficiency in Python and experience building scalable, production-grade systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) and familiarity with the end-to-end ML project lifecycle.
• Practical experience building RAG pipelines and agentic or multi-component AI workflows.
• Strong data-driven problem solving and pragmatic decision making about when to build versus ship.
• Product-focused mindset with demonstrated ownership of features from concept to deployment.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
