We just announced our $3M Pre-Seed. Watch our — launch video.
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer with 2–3+ years of customer-facing technical experience to be the first FDE on our team. You will own the technical delivery of customer deployments, working directly with commodity traders, operators, and logistics teams to understand their operations and configure CommodityAI to automate their workflows.
This role is focused on running many fast, structured onboarding sprints rather than large bespoke enterprise implementations. We need a highly organized and structured operator who can manage multiple deployments in parallel, extract operational context from customers, and drive rapid time-to-value. As the first FDE, you will also play a key role in shaping how our deployment function operates as we scale. A demonstrated interest in AI agents and applied AI systems is important for success in this role.
What will you be doing?
Own the technical delivery of customer deployments, from initial discovery and workflow scoping through successful onboarding and production adoption.
Manage multiple onboarding sprints simultaneously (up to ~10 customers), ensuring deployments move quickly and customers reach value fast.
Translate customer operations into platform configurations, gathering the right information from traders and operators to implement automation workflows effectively.
Act as the technical bridge between customers and engineering, diagnosing issues and communicating structured, actionable insights that accelerate bug resolution and product improvements.
Develop a deep understanding of our system architecture and codebase to troubleshoot edge cases, identify workarounds, and configure the platform effectively.
Help define and build the FDE function, developing onboarding playbooks, implementation processes, and internal tools that improve deployment speed and consistency as the company grows.
CommodityAI is a San Francisco-based AI company serving the commodities industry, founded by former commodity traders and operators with deep industry expertise. Backed by Y Combinator and Rebel Fund, it aims to build intelligence at the foundation of global trade.
