Summary: This position is responsible for assembling patient information into patients’ medical charts/records in an accurate and complete manner as required for daily production and answering phone calls and directing to the appropriate person.

Details: Full-time (8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday)

Salary: $17.50/hr - $19.50/hr (depends on experience)

Responsibilities:

  1. Assembles patients’ health information in preparation for upcoming appointments.

  2. Assigns documents to the appropriate provider for review and authentication.

  3. Import incoming records proficiently into the EMR.

  4. Fax and scan outgoing documents.

  5. Send records as indicated by providers.

  6. Assign relevant documents to nursing staff for review.

  7. Promptly and professionally answers phone calls and routes appropriately.

  8. Maintains HIPAA compliance.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of medical terminology a plus.

  2. Skill in putting information in preferred medical record system, meeting clinic standards.

  3. Skill in dealing with masses of information in an organized manner.

  4. Ability to analyze medical records for completeness and accuracy, paying attention to detail.

  5. Ability to schedule time and assignments effectively.

  6. Proficient spoken and written English

  7. Must be detail oriented.

  8. Professional look and mannerism

  9. Courteous manners with the public.

  10. Team player (maintain respectful co-worker relationships)

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One year of experience in a medical office preferred.

Mental and Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Medical Records Staff position that involves standing, sitting, bending, and reaching. May work at computer monitors for prolonged periods with danger of eye strain and muscle pain. Could cause stress if the workload is heavy.

Conditions: The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, labs, hospitals, and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical environment
