About this role

TL;DR

Us. Applied AI research lab building the first AGE (Artificial General Employee). SOTA on the GAIA benchmark. Built on founder’s thesis work during his PhD at Harvard. Grown to $XM ARR (no sales hires, no outbound, fully inbound and organically) in less than 6 months with customers from Fortune 30 (6-7 figure accounts) to airlines, hotel chains, and leading startups (5-6 figure accounts). Average customer grows 30% MoM. 100% pilot-to-production rate as of Nov 2025 (25% is industry avg. for AI solutions). Looking to grow to $XXM ARR in the next 6 months. Looking to become market leader by end of 2026.

You. Founding Senior Engineer. You are looking to lead a world-class engineering team on an extremely aggressive 6 month roadmap. Have experience with common full stack/AI stack across frontend, backend, AI, infra. 5+ years of experience at extreme talent density companies (Stripe, Ramp, Cruise, …) || hyper growth startup (Windsurf, Decagon, Mercor, …) || your own company}. Your background shows signs of continued excellence, ownership, and ability to lead.

Company

Brainbase Labs is an applied AI research lab enabling AI in the global workforce. We achieve this by building the first Artificial General Employee (AGE).

Why?

Enabling AI in the global workforce will not come from specialized vertical AI agents but from a single highly capable agent (AGE) with access to general tools that will be onboarded by its employers, much like a new human hire, because:

  1. Point solutions are not scalable. The unprecedented demand for forward deployed AI engineers is a strong sign towards enterprise AI adoption requiring a more flexible approach than the familiar one-size-fits-all SaaS model.

  2. Vertical AI companies are a race to the bottom. The lack of differentiation and low switching costs for vertical AI solutions create a commoditized market where margins tend to zero in the long run.

  3. Knowledge work is environment-constrained. We predict that the automation of a significant portion of economically viable knowledge work as it stands right now is primarily environment-constrained rather than requiring unforeseen leaps in intelligence.

Our solution

In comparison, our Artificial General Employees:

  1. Live on the cloud with their own full fledged computers. Every employee has access to a coding runtime, a browser, a file system and 2000+ integrations.

  2. Work where their human coworkers work. Every agent comes with its own email, phone number, Slack account, and even Zoom/Google Meet account. If you want them to take a look at something, you just forward an email, tag on Slack or ask them to hop on a quick call.

  3. Can be onboarded with instruction, repetition or demonstration. Our customers treat their employees like a new junior hire, they can teach them by talking in natural language or by demonstrating via Loom.

Our guiding principles are:

  1. Bias towards human-like agents. Economically viable AI workers will have to work in settings designed for humans, which include using a keyboard and mouse, having an email and a phone number, and more.

  2. Utility-like cost structure. AI workers will be charged per-minute with additional costs associated with bandwidth, surcharge pricing and more.

  3. Bitter-pilled. High-fidelity virtual environments and capable agents in the workforce will unlock new S-curves in AI training by incentivizing reward labeling.

Impact

We’re seeing the impact of the AGE through our customers:

  1. $XM ARR in 6 months without any outbound sales motion. Closed public enterprise logos as well as leading startups and SMBs through inbound and word of mouth.

  2. 30% MoM growth in customer accounts. All customers including our 6-7 figure accounts grow at 30% MoM by introducing new agents or increasing their use of existing ones.

  3. 100% pilot-to-production rate. Every single employee created has gone from pilot to production within the first 3 months. The industry average is 25% [MIT Report]

What we’re looking for

As our first Senior Engineer, we expect you to have the following:

  1. Alignment with our mission. We have a contrarian bet by going horizontal instead of vertical. We expect our thesis will be common place by mid-2026 and we are moving extremely fast to grab the market before then.

  2. Track record of excellence. You have been exceptional across your background and demonstrate adaptability, quick learning and grit.

    A hard requirement is 5+ years of experience at {extreme talent density companies (Stripe, Ramp, Cruise, …) || hyper growth startup (Windsurf, Decagon, Mercor, …) || your own company}

  3. Ability and drive to lead. As our first senior engineer you will be expected to lead our world-class team, execute relentlessly on our aggressive 6 month roadmap, and take full responsibility of any technical misses.

  4. Product sense and ownership. You are expected to think like a product owner at each junction and not shy away from talking to customers or other stakeholders when needed.

  5. Technical excellence. As a baseline, you are expected to be exceptionally competent in all four pillars of our stack: frontend, backend, AI and infra.
