About this role
Brainbase Labs is an applied AI research lab building the first Artificial General Employee (AGE). As Founding Senior Engineer, you will lead a world-class engineering team on an aggressive 6-month roadmap, owning frontend, backend, AI, and infra. Your work will accelerate our path from pilot to production and help establish our position as a market leader in enterprise AI.
What youll do
- Lead the engineering effort to execute the 6-month roadmap across frontend, backend, AI, and infra.
- Own end-to-end system design and delivery, from UI to AI agents to cloud infrastructure.
- Mentor and grow the engineering team as the first senior engineer, setting technical direction.
- Collaborate with product, customers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
- Ensure production-grade quality with reliability, performance, and security.
- Drive AI-forward product development, including integration of LLMs and workflow automation.
- Establish best practices for development, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response.
What Brainbase Labs is looking for
- 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering at extreme talent density companies (Stripe, Ramp, Cruise, …) || hyper growth startup (Windsurf, Decagon, Mercor, …) || your own company
- Strong full-stack capability across frontend, backend, AI, and infra; able to build and own complex systems end-to-end
- Proficiency in Next.js, React, Node.js, TypeScript, Python; experience with HTTP APIs; experience with Prisma or Drizzle; experience with AWS
- Experience with agent workflows or building AI products; experience with LLMs (OpenAI API, LangChain, HuggingFace)
- Willingness to be in San Francisco or relocate quickly; strong collaboration and communication
- Strong CS fundamentals; education background should reflect solid computer science foundations
