Narratives & Communications Lead

Basis is building at the frontier of AI-powered accounting, and this role shapes how the world sees Basis. You’ll craft a distinctive voice and stories that resonate with top ML/engineering talent and business leaders, helping Basis become a generational brand. Your narrative work will define our presence as we invent new categories.

What youll do

• Define and own Basis's voice and company narrative across external channels.
• Develop and execute a public storytelling plan, including blog posts, thought leadership, and press materials.
• Translate complex AI and accounting concepts into clear, compelling stories in collaboration with product, research, and leadership.
• Build and manage a content calendar and oversee high-quality, public-facing content to accelerate recruitment and brand growth.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to surface and tell the stories Basis is uniquely positioned to tell, highlighting the frontier of applied AI and real-world impact.

What Basis is looking for

• 2+ years in communications roles; writing is a core responsibility (VC, journalism, in-house comms/marketing, devrel).
• Excellent writer with a public writing corpus; capable of crafting compelling narratives.
• Technologist-first mindset; understands what best-in-class engineers/technologists think and care about; likely active on X and/or Substack.
• Experience with written marketing for high-growth startups; comfortable translating tech into marketable stories.
• Touchpoints with finance, fintech, and AI concepts; demonstrates industry literacy.
• On-site commitment: willing to work 5 days a week on-site.
