avoltra is building an energy procurement platform to help customers optimize costs and make data-driven decisions. As our Founding Product Engineer and an early employee, you’ll own the full product lifecycle from design to deployment and collaborate with the founding team to translate market data and customer needs into an enterprise-grade cloud product.

What youll do

• Translate product objectives into requirements in close collaboration with customers.
• Design simple solutions to complex problems in an iterative manner together with customers.
• Develop performant backend services for our data-intensive application.
• Build intuitive and elegant user interfaces for our complex decision support system.
• Train time-series forecasting models for power consumption and renewables production.
• Develop linear optimisation algorithms that help save millions in energy cost for our customers.

What avoltra is looking for

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to build robust, maintainable, and scalable web applications.
• Generalist engineer with a product mindset who can own features end-to-end with customers; strong problem solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in an early-stage, fast-paced startup environment; curiosity for energy markets and data-intensive applications.
• Experience building scalable web applications in a high-intensity startup environment.
• Optically experienced in timeseries forecasting and/or linear optimisation.
• Familiarity with our stack: PostgreSQL, TypeScript, React, and Python; FastAPI, TypeScript, Supabase experience nice but not required.
• Strong CS fundamentals; education requirements are general rather than prescriptive.
• Preferred background: Early-stage startup experience, ideally former CTO; corporate background acceptable with startup mindset.
• Location: Munich-based, on-site required.
