Touro University New York

A branch campus of Touro College, New York, NY founded in 1998, Touro University International was an independent university located in California. The school focused on distance learning to provide career advancement and preparatory skills needed in a modern job market where students earned undergraduate and graduate degrees online. The university believed that diversity in the workforce made it imperative for students to learn from people from a wide variety of backgrounds. By fostering academic exploration, the university prepared students for real-world challenges that required specialized skills.

Touro University Worldwide's story started with the founding of TUI. Dr. Yoram Neumann and Dr. Edith Neumann established TUI in 1998 where it was the first university in the world to offer a regionally accredited doctorate program online with no residency requirements. It was also attractive to government and military students. Drs. Neumann led TUI for 11 years from 1998 to 2009. During their time, 14,000 students graduated and the university built a catalog of more than 50,000 courses. In 2007, TUI was sold to a private equity group.

Since 2000, the Touro College & University System grew to include international sites in Paris and Berlin, as well as coastal campuses in Los Angeles and Miami. Touro College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, (MSCHE) an agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

TUI was originally accredited as a branch campus of Touro College, New York, NY and was later independently regionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
