Akshay is a Video Technologist with 13+ years of R&D and product engineering/management experience across Video streaming/workflows/infrastructure/codecs/encoding/quality, Cloud Technologies, OTT/IP video delivery, Content publishing/editing/clipping(+AI)/management (CMS), Metadata generation (+AI)/manipulation/management, QC, DSP & Multimedia Applications. Currently he is working on optimizing Digital LIVE/VOD media streaming/workflows for contribution/distribution including ad-tech applications at NFL His interests lie in emerging video technologies, Digital/Online video & innovative, challenging inter-disciplinary opportunities in Product Management/engineering and R & D. He is always seeking mentors/mentees. Previously, Akshay was a Technical Product Manager/Sr. Media Engineer with PlutoTV, helping redefine the internet TV watching experience by contributing to it's ad-technology, Live/VOD ingestion, transcode, delivery, playback and performance. Prior to that, Akshay was a key team player developing multimedia solutions instrumental in launching Fullscreen's SVOD service, resulting in a partnership with ATT-Direct TV NOW and being named in Apple's Top 10 Apps of 2016. Akshay was also a key contributor to Cinova's products by developing CRUNCH video/image compression algorithms for constant bit-rate applications and smart video streaming solutions. Akshay graduated from ASU where he developed his doctoral thesis on the end-to-end quality assessment of video, that included the effect of network delays upon video watching experience. His quantification of the effects of network conditions led to the invention of methodologies and techniques to optimize video experience over lossy networks. He has also spent time as a guest researcher at Fraunhofer HHI in Berlin, which is the seat of many modern innovations in video coding.
