JOB SUMMARY 

As part of our recent growth, we are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will manage and coordinate production activities associated with the Sheet Metal and Assembly. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Operations & Production Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all sheet metal fabrication and assembly operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements
  • Ensure efficient workflow, capacity utilization, and labor allocation across departments and shifts
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost
  • Resolve production issues, bottlenecks, and quality concerns in a timely manner

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and production staff
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of manufacturing personnel
  • Promote employee engagement and adherence to company values

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Drive a strong safety culture and lead incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Partner with Quality to ensure products meet specifications, workmanship standards, and customer expectations
  • Support audits and compliance activities as required

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Lead and support Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve throughput, and lower manufacturing costs
  • Collaborate with Engineering on process improvements, new product introductions, and tooling or equipment changes
  • Support standard work development and process documentation

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Planning to ensure smooth operations
  • Provide input on production planning, capital expenditures, and resource needs
  • Communicate production status, risks, and improvement plans to plant leadership

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Is responsible for direct supervision of department employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years in manufacturing environments
  • 5+ years leading or supervising teams
  • Experience working with diverse teams, including individuals with disabilities

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English through verbal communication, American Sign Language, or adaptive technology

SALARY DESCRIPTION

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Skills Inc. is a self-supporting Social Enterprise and is organized as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit. We have three lines of business; Aerospace Manufacturing, Aerospace Finishing, and Business Solutions, that operate in 2 locations. Skills Inc. employs over 250 people and our social mission is to train, employ, and serve persons with disabilities. We accomplish our mission three ways; direct hire, vocational programs and services, and as a resource to the community.

Salary Range: $85,000-$125,000
